Ryan Broekhoff is 19th in the nation in 3 point field goal percentage....he actually dropped two places after the Butler game, although his percentage stayed the same...Congratulations....he is really becoming one our go-to guys

I'd love to see Ryan shoot a little more. Sometimes I feel like he isn't looking for his shot as much as he should for as good of a shooter as he is. I'd love to see him start firing like Haanpaa did. As long as he can get himself squared up and he's within 27 feet I don't have a problem with him pulling the trigger.

After the way Ryan shot the ball at the end of the Green Bay & Butler games he needs to shoot like that the whole game not just at the end when the game might be on the line. We might have beaten GB if Ryan had launched some earlier threes during the scoring drought.

It is a nice complement to have with Brandon (slashing) and Cory's inside game. While Cory is not exactly a typical low poster, Rowdy's game would really be dynamic when the Big Dutchman is in the game (more of a back to the basket low poster). lowposter

Well, last night won't hurt his 3-pt %. He has taken the most 3-pt shots on the team, thanks to Brandon being out 2 games. It is nice to see him finding his groove, and hope that he can find 1 or 2 more looks a game.

Double double! First of the season for anyone at Valpo? Too bad it came in a loss. But, Ryan had a fine game.

Good to see him on the post-game press conference too - the HLN archive stuck around for it. A well spoken young man. He and Homer made a good combo.

Rowdy isn't being allowed may open shots. It is going to take help from his team mates to shed his defenders so he can do his thing. Hopefully there will be many ball screens set for him in his future.

This thread is disappointing to me. Since early in his freshman year, it was apparent to me that Rowdy was deserving of being considered part of our Big 3 (with Wood and Johnson). It blows my mind that just now people are starting to think maybe he should shoot more or maybe he is a good complement to the others. I am sorry that so many of you have been missing out on what he has to offer our program for almost 2 years now. Keep it up Rowdy!! Maybe when Johnson and Wood graduate, you will finally get a piece of the top billing!

Valpo's not been to the NCAA tournament, haven't won a conference title, and they haven't won the conference tournament since any of those guys have been here. Winning is the key to notoriety and fame, so let's just continure winning and the rest will take care of itself. You'll notice that Johnson and Wood are getting a lot more attention in the Horizon League now that the are, um, I don't know...winning!

Obviously you haven't been around for a while, there is no one on this board that has underestimated the value of Rowdy, we have extolled his virtues consistantly and since day one. I don't think you have been keeping up...now's a good time to start. As far as the rest of the league, who cares. The more they overlook him, the better during the games.

Rowdy was the only HL player to post back-to-back Double-Doubles over the weekend with 15/11 against CSU and 11/14 against YSU. POTW? Brandon got 31 last night, but his 6 on Thursday didn't help...
Anthony Hill put up some impressive numbers in their only game... 29 points and 15 boards for UWM in their win over GB.
Krebs had a pair of impressive scoring games 20 and 25 but not a lot to show for it in the "W" column.
Norris Cole did have a 25/11 game against us, and 15 against Butler.... Montgomery had 26 against us and 18 against Butler....
Chase Simon but up 20 and 28 in their two games ...
Be interesting to see how the voting goes!

From the numbers you quoted, and knowing Detroit won twice, sounds like Simon.
But, who knows? Being high in the standings is good for votes. Cole and Montgomery will get a look.
Ryan might too - two double-doubles* is an impressive stat!
*One OT assisted.

there is no one on this board that has underestimated the value of Rowdy Except, of course, the infamous low release point! ;D

Congratulations....he is really becoming one our go-to guys If YOU had been keeping up RLH, then you would have realized he has always been one of our go-to guys. Glad you are finally beginning to open your eyes to that fact. No doubt many felt he was a good player, just not worthy of being mentioned alongside of Johnson and Wood. And, milanmiracle, you make an excellent point. Johnson and Wood are deemed our stars whether we win or not! Broekhoff may only gain that status if we are winning. Great thought! Thank you for that.
