This is going a little far. I know you would love to see such a rapid, long term dismantling of Butler, but I don't think its going to happen.
I can see why every school in the Horizon and IU would love to rub salt in the wound, but I'd save all the "Butler way is Dead" comments until there is a 2-3 year decline.
This year has been more than disappointing, and perplexing... but if by some act of god they can figure out how to pull themselves together by tournament time, there is enough talent on this team to win the conference tournament, and dare I say win a game in the torunament with the right match up. With Howard gone next year, the incoming freshmen had better be as good as advertised. That being said - winning the tournament this year is highly unlikely, with an underscore on highly.

Seeing WSU pull one out at the Nutter Center is fine with me -- they're a very good team. Seeing us pull one out at the ARC -- goes without saying I'm giddy about that Seeing you guys crap the bed against a bottom feeder? It might be sort of like gawking at an accident on the side of the road, but I'm not feeling good about it. Losses like last night at the Beeghly Center induce the very kind of wildly irrational thoughts you mention.

If the Butler team leadership takes this game as a wake-up call, the rest of the Horizon League could be in trouble!

There's a German word for this, I do believe, but I'm afraid to try to spell it. Schadenfreude

Gesundheit! This Youngstown victory takes some of the luster off our victory at the ARC last weekend.

There's a German word for this, I do believe, but I'm afraid to try to spell it. Schadenfreude There's an old American expression that says "Be kind to the people you meet on the way up, because you're going to meet the same people on the way down." If you are kind, then expect to receive "mitleid." If you are arrogant and condescending, expect "schadenfreude." It's a perfect example of the "law of reciprocity" in action.

Before we get too condescending to our "friends" from Butler...remember we were mucha the same when we were running roughshod over the Mid-Con, and there were several rushing the court nights with Oral Roberts and Oakland when they caught up with us and we weren't the biggest bully on the block anymore. Same thing is happening to Butler now......hopefully some of their fans will understand and take it for what it's worth. Except for a few programs in the country, you don't stay at the top forever, and your conference people will catch up with you eventually. They made all of us better and should be congratulated for that, but they are still Butler and it means a lot to beat them.

I'm sure their administration is taking their fans seriously--and considering moving to-------------------Drum roll please------------ The Summit League

If you are kind, then expect to receive "mitleid." If you are arrogant and condescending, expect "schadenfreude." It's a perfect example of the "law of reciprocity" in action. And that is exactly why Butler fans deserve what they are getting from Horizon League fans at this time of their falling from grace. Those Butler fans handed out so much ill will and told us time and time again how they didn't deserve to be in the Horizon League anymore how they were the top of the Mid-Majors and deserved to be treated like a perennial power. They are receiving the schadenfreude they handed out when they thought they were the big brother/cool dude on the block. It's a classic example of the "reciprocity" you talked about in the "law of reciprocity." You all remember the Butler fans saying they deserved to move up to the A-10 or Missouri Valley or even the Big Ten and didn't belong in the Horizon League anymore.

I'm not happy with last night's result. Butler's baffling loss cost the Panthers their two top victories of the season, both RPI top 50 wins and five places in the latest RPI. Lose at Wright State or Cleveland State or Valpo, but don't lose at YSU. After tomorrow's Butler victory at Cleveland State, this league will truly be a free-for-all, every-team-for-itself proposition with no at-large prospects for anyone. Soon, it will be all about conference standings and tournament sites and seedings.
