Every team participating in the ESPN Bracketbuster faces it, and soon Valpo will be looking at a challenging schedule in terms of number of games in a short time span. Hope the injury bug goes away so we can be something close to full strength. After this weeks home games against Detroit and Wright State, we face 5 games in 10 days, of which 4 are conference games. Away games at Milwaukee Wednesday 2/16 and Green Bay Monday 2/21. These two conference away games are sandwiched around the home ESPN Bracketbuster tv game vs. Missouri State Saturday 2/19. Then we wrap up to conference season the following week with home games vs. Loyola Thursday 2/24 and UIC Saturday 2/26. If we are playing close to our best and are reasonably healthy hopefully we will do ok. If not, well then it will be a challenge. We will need to continue to hit the boards and rebound, limit our turnovers, and of course get better at making our free throws. www.horizonleague.org/schedule.html?sport_id=2&teams%5B%5D=8

The Wright State game has the makings of a "serious game" looking at today's standings...
and about that Green Bay game... they have a Saturday game at SIU-Carbondale in the bbuster (they have not announced a tip-off time yet)... with a 9.5 hour bus ride... I think I'd rather have a home game!

---We have 6 conf. games left, none of which include CSU or Butler. ---Our record against upcoming opponents is 5-1. ---The GB loss was without Brandon and Jay. ---Four of the six games are at home. ---Everyone we play will be as tired as we are. ---We control our own destiny and thus have everything to play for. There is absolutely no reason why we should not expect this team to win all 6 games and host the HL tournament. Excuses like we had to leave for CSU a day early, we haven't been able to have any good practices lately, and all of our guys shoot 80% from the FT line in practice need to be filed away in the "reasons for failure" drawer. Everyone competing for the conference championship faces obstacles of one kind or another. The team with the greatest resolve will be the No. 1 seed.

So you are right jbowker, since our bracketbuster game tips off at 4:00pm CST and is a home game, there is no advantage for Green Bay, other than they get us at home this time. But, with a healthier BWood and Jay Harris, hopefully we return the favor and win at Green Bay.

Would have liked to see someone else beside Detroit put it to CSU. This really tightens up the race putting 6 teams in the running for the top spot. Just like last year, Detroit seems to be rounding into shape and becomes the team no one will want to play. I could see a lot of 6 loss teams around the top two spots in the standings at this rate.

Detroit has 6 losses and still has games at Valpo, Butler and Wright State. They're about 200-1 to finish first or second in the league.

Detroit scares me. They have some skilled players...and Hohlman is huge.
