It's really very simple....win out and we are the number one seed....lose one, and beat Wright State and we're the number one seed because of the tiebreakers, even if Cleveland State wins out.... Personally, I'd rather see us win the rest of them.....and host everyone at the ARC.....the Horizon League office would hate that, but it would be great......

I was also the one who predicted first that Valpo would end up hosting the HL Tourney and many said it was way too early to think about. Now it's interesting that so many more are seeing us as the tourney host. I do believe that Valpo will lose another game, probably on the road at Milwaukee or Green Bay, but will still host the HL Tourney.

Why would the Horizone League office hate Valpo hosting the tournament?

We kiddingly say that....but in truth I think they'd rather have what most consider to be better facilities and more seating capacity than what we offer....I don't know they really would hate us to host, but I'm sure in some ways they'd prefer a bigger place to attract more fans...

Understandable.... I hate to say it but it's the truth, we will have to play much better in order to host or much less, earn the second seed. Saturday's game against YSU was the worst I have seen in 10 years from Valpo. The question is, did we peak at the wrong time, January?

If we host - and worse yet win - look for a push by Butler to change the tourney format, the venue setup, or something else "in the best interest of the league." 2002 here we come...

They did that after going 25-6 and being snubbed. They're not going 25-6 this year. From the Butler Way Handbook - Guiding principle in 2002: The Butler Way, Principle 666, Section 1, paragraph 1: "Employ situational ethics as required to manufacture change for the ''greater good." Hard to say how that may apply this year - it's early...

Let's not look past Detroit. They're playing better lately, and they're going to bring it on Thursday night. We can't look ahead to Wright St.

Yep, Detroit could give us fits. Said before that Holman is bad match up for us. I called ther win vs. CSU. There are no gimmes in the next 4 games. Need intense effort and big crowds.
If more than 20 students stormed the court vs. Butler, I am really hoping that a few dozen of those "court stormers" attending their first game can bother themselvs to go see their #1 team in the conference face two key games at the ARC this week.

I was discussing the euphoric joy we'd all feel watching a CSU/Butler semifinal... on OUR floor! Definitely would be in a sort of La-La Land if we hosted.

They handed it to us at the ARC last year during the Horizon League tournament, and then won another game at Butler. They really finished strong. I was expecting more out of them this year with freshman McCallum, but then the top half of the league is all improved. Detroit helped us last night.

As I stated on another thread, Detroit is rounding into shape at the right time and could once again be the team that nobody wants to play. They are a bad match up for us IMO and if they learned anything from our previous win, and how we defended them, this will be a very difficult game. Buggs needs to stay out of foul trouble and our rotation in the Holman double teams needs to be very quick. They appear to be sharing the ball much better now.

I agee that I don't like the matchup. They are huge and with Cory disappearing in the last couple of games we will need to be on our outside game to keep things lose on the inside. Another game I don't like is with Green Bay. Sure we were very shorthanded but that 7 footer made us look bad.
