Fairly exciting game today at the O'Rena -- if by exciting, you mean hair-raising, with at least one coach pulling his hair out over senseless turnovers and missed FTs to allow the other team back into the game.
The Grizz had the game salted away with about 1:20 to go, but suddenly turned sloppy with their play. Reggie Hamilton brought the ball over the timeline and got called for a questionable 5-second call. Kampe piled on with a Tech -- 4 pts for the Dons. Botts nailed a contested 3. Benson missed a 3 footer on which he may have been fouled (no call), then Hamilton got called on the other end (correctly in my opinion). With 8 seconds left, Hamilton got fouled with Oakland up by 2. He proceeds to miss both FTs, then redeems himself with a clean block on Botts, comes down with the ball, drives to the front court, gets pushed to the ground by an IPFW player. In the meantime, Fife was already at half court screaming that Botts was fouled. He got double-T'd, to say nothing of Grizz and Don players almost getting into a rumble. Bader drains the 4 Tech FTs with 0.8 to go, then Hamilton drains his 2 FTs (after Fife shook hands with Kampe and several of the OU players both on the bench and on the court and left, having been ejected by rule) -- saying to himself (I'm thinking) "If only I'd done this 8 seconds ago, we wouldn't have had any of this mess."
Entertaining, to say the least.
