Dear Valpo Basketball Fans,
We are writing to you today on behalf of the Social Action Leadership Team (SALT) World Relief Campaign (WRC) and of the Valpo Men's Basketball program. If you are a supporter of either, please keep reading.
SALT and Valpo Basketball are partnering in a joint effort that will:
1) Raise significant money for SALT’s 2011 World Relief Campaign
2) Increase student attendance at the Valpo vs. Missouri State Bracketbuster game next Saturday (2/19) at 4 pm on ESPN2
You can help accomplish this. If you are interested in helping, please pledge to donate a nickel ($.5) or more per student that attends this game. We are aiming for a student crowd of between 500-700 students, so a nickel per student donation would equal $25-35.
The 2011 SALT WRC is entitled kuJenga: Buildings Minds, One Block at a Time. The WRC will benefit children in the village of Masaera in Tanzania. The money you donate will directly fund the construction of a pre-primary classroom for the Mandaka Primary School in the village. SALT is very excited about the WRC, and we are working hard to reach the goal of $12,500 (already 10%+ there!). For more info, see the attached case statement.
There have already been pledges totaling $2.65/student who attends, and with your donation we can increase this further and entice more students to attend and cheer on our first place Valpo Basketball team! More students will attend knowing that just by coming, a few dollars will be donated to this charity. This is important in a pivotal game that has NCAA Tournament implications! Legendary ESPN analyst Dick Vitale will even be on hand to call the game. Other charitable arrangements centered around the game are also being made.
If you are interested in donating, or have questions, please email or call Tim Hopps at tim.hopps@valpo.edu or 815.298.1061 by Monday, February 14 at 5 pm with your name, phone number, email, and donation pledge. This is a tight time frame, but your help will go a long way in helping SALT and Valpo Basketball. No amount is too small. Thanks for your time.
