I am not really that big of a Kobe fan, but he scored 81 POINTS tonight. That is crazy. 2nd most all-time behind Wilt!

One things for sure, when he got the ball, he wasn't passing... 46 shots, 2 assists!

Yeah when you take more shots than the rest of your team combined thats what you get.

Since he still has quite a few years left, do you think he will ever approach 81 again?

I think so. I would not be too surprised if he surpasses this number with the number of touches he's getting combined with his hot touch right now. I think there are maybe three players who could legitimely test 80 if they got hot, their teams entirely focused the offense on them, and the opponent obliged: Kobe, Iverson, and Lebron.

Kobe, Iverson, and Lebron. Those would be the guys I would go with too. Garnett and Duncan could put up lots of points, but since they aren't 3 point shooters I would doubt they could get to 80.

Exactly. Since there's no possibility of someone having such an amazing physical presence (i.e. Walt) in the paint anymore, you really need to have the three to score these numbers of points. However, what do you make of the fact that Kobe only had seven? It seems like an 80 point night would necessitate at least 10 3's to me.

I find it most amazing that, unlike his night against the Mavericks where he had sixty-something through three quarters, that all of his 81 points were scored in the context of a competitive game. The rest of his team only shot 33 percent for the game, I don't blame him for taking so many shots.

80 is just unbeleivable. I think he is just the focal point on the team and everyone just put everything on his shoulders and just went along for the ride. I didn't see the game but after 50 points I would have started to double and triple team him to make someone else make a shot.
I didn't realize that he only had 7 threes. The freethrows helped as that was 18 points right there.
At least they won this time... didn't they get beat when he put up 60 the last time?
