By the way Governor Daniels and his wife were dressed in 50's costumes (rumor has it they were stolen from the Butler Theater Dept) for Halloween at the Governor's mansion which happens to be on 44th & Meridian within walking distance of the Butler campus in the older but well groomed North Meridian Street neighborhood. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indiana_Governor's_Mansion#Current_residence

As I'm not an Indiana resident, I won't vote. I'm a little surprised that no one has mentioned that Jill Long Thompson is a Valpo grad. Will that make a difference to any voters??

Don't let Gov Daniels get swept up in the " Hate Bush" wave that could cause a pretty decent Gov to lose his job.

Jill Long Thompson has run an embarrassing campaign, entirely based on Daniel's faults. She doesn't deserve my vote despite attending Valpo and also teaching there.
I was all set to vote for Daniels, who though I do not like his public personna, has done a good job. The day before voting I received a nasty negative flyer in the mail about Obama from the Indiana Republican Party. That eliminated my vote for Mitch.
Still Long-Thompson is a no-no so I voted for Horning the Libetarian.

I don't live in In. ,but get all kinds of that stuff in the mail ,I throw it in the garbage on the way into the house. Glad you got out & voted , I'll still say ,I think Daniels is one of the good Govs & I hope In. doesn't lose him....I'd take him in my state in a heartbeat.

I too hope he wins. He just did not get my vote. The flyer in question was from his state committee, not national, not some other group. I hope it time to react to incredibly negative stuff.
Flyers we have received this year: 5 from McCain, State and National Committees, all negative.

all it's been is negative. i sort mail in one of the dorms, and every day, we get more political flyers than real mail, based entirely on how the other candidate is wrong. surprisingly, nothing regarding the gubernatorial race. it's all the local races that have been doing it.

While i have found this years election to be very interesting , it is funny to me how the talk is mostly about McCain's commercials & mailings, when Obama is outspending him about 7:1....probably $ 600,000 million when it is all said & done.
When told by city officials that they could not hold the Obama election night celebration in Grant Park due to added cost of $5-6 mil , they said don't worry we will cover any cost.
I guess I should have been a politican instead of a salesman...$$$$$$$.

I usuallly leave political conversation for the Loyola board but I met Gov. Daniels at the Republican Convention. The CigarBoy Legal Council works for the Gov of NE. She introduced me to him at an RGA event. We talked for about 10 minutes and we mostly talked about HL basketball. He told me about growing up a Butler fan. I have since chatted with him at Hinkle where he attends a lot of games. I like him personally and think he is a good governor. From where I sit he is probably one of the better governors in the country.

At least he's not corrupt, unlike a lot of the Illinois governors. If the people of Illinois offered to sell Chicago to the highest bidder, would that be consider "pay for play"?

no. probably more along the lines of self-preservation. the rest of the state hates them for meddling in down-state affairs.
