Huh. I thought the thread was _about_ politics! He's correct. The thread was partially about politics from the beginning when it was mentioned that the president-elect should be invited to attend a VU basketball game. Maybe you should put it in the "Off Topic" catagory where it can die a peaceful death. JJ never knew where to put a post. He wants all his posts front and center.

This thread was about inviting our next President to our game. It's not about everyone's political views or leanings. It could have stayed about the appropriateness of inviting him, or the history of it, etc. without getting into personal views on who voted for who and whatnot.

You may joke...but this is a great idea. I too favored McCain, but the facts are Obama won. Having him in the audience for the North Carolina game can't do anything except enhance the exposure Valpo gets from the game. I hope someone in the administration reads this and does something about it. It's worth a shot.....

How often does a president (or president elect) get out to a sporting event? Once a year? Chances seem poor that he'd pick a Valpo - UNC game. But, it absolutely can't hurt to extend an invitation.

Could even use it to advertise the event! "We invited the President-Elect, we hope he'll come."

If this were MLB, I'd say it would be much more likely since there is strong precedent for it.
I'm thinking that Obama's Chicago roots played a part in someone thinking up this idea, maybe that would appeal to him?
