That's so un-American.
Lacrosse? Seriously?
Go Valpo! Fight for those midwest values!

actually valpomichigan...lacrosse is one of the oldest team sports in America. its origins go back to the 12th century and it was played by the Native Americans...lol. lacrosse is much more popular on the east coast and thats probably why Hoftsra chose it over football. the same thing almost happened at butler a few years ago but the university chose to drop lacrosse instead of football. i think with a new coach valpo football will keep surviving for many more years. especially with a president who believes in it.

Lacrosse. :thumbsup We only have about 30 high schools in Indiana that play, but we're adding 4 to 5 each year. It will be a long time before it gets sactioned by the IHSAA, but the future looks good. I love my fastpitch softball, but men's lacrosse is closing the gap as one of my favorites. I'd take it over football or baseball any day.

one of my friends and his sister are both at vu. california is big into lacrosse, and they both played. his sister had to decide between academics (valpo) and lacrosse (calvin). it was apparently a tough decision before she picked the good guys. adding lacrosse might be something worth looking into - it would add another dimension to our recruiting attack.

Believe it or not, lacrosse is the fastest grow sport in the US!!!! It's based on growth from kids to professionals...soccer was second and hockey was third. I'll try to find the article... jj Valpo is one of the oldest football programs in the US, football is NOT going anywhere...let's just make the best of it...it is what it is...it gives kids a chance to play that wouldn't have a chance to play otherwise. Plus, I believe we have an edge over other Division 1 non-scholarship because of that history. I'm sure that some good young coach can bring the players in to bring a winner back here. Going back to lacrosse...I'd love to see that brought in...plus, bring back women's field hockey!!!!! While you're at it...bring in hockey!!!!!!! I'm sure that the ARC can be configured for hockey too...

...it is what it is...it gives kids a chance to play that wouldn't have a chance to play otherwise. Now, there are dozens of reasons to have D1 football, but I have to say that giving kids that wouldn't have a chance to play otherwise is the worst defense I can think of. Hey, you're not good enough to play D1 anywhere else, come play here!?! I am on board with keeping football, but if that's the attitude of the program...
