Fans will do what they want, saying VU, etc. But if the administration thought that IMC was a good idea, and IMC thinks what it is doing are good ideas for the next stage for Valparaiso, then we should go with it. Not blindly; this questioning and inquiry is good, as I was at one of these sessions, mainly out of curiosity. However, to echo what a3uge said, we were in need of some kind of change to revamp our recruiting outside of this 7 state area.

Making major changes in how a university is referred to, or how it is percieved is very very difficult under any circumstance. I do the PA for the women's games, and I remember that Milwaukee and Green Bay both want themselves referred to by the city name and NOT by the University of Wisconsin designation....eventually maybe that will work with alums and residents of that area, but elsewhere it really doesn't mean much. The Valpo thing was a really big concern a few years ago when we were travelling to other cities and even their newspapers made fun of that name. At one time we were told never to refer to the university as Valpo....the more things change the more they stay the same....Personally, I like the new shield logo, but I think the mascot is a joke. If you're going to use something like that, it at least should look professionally made...that's my problem with it.

The logo is awesome, and I bet it looks great on various publications, and the shield logo looks good on the football field and volleyball/basketball court. The actual, physical mascot is nothing close to what I would have imagined. It looks like something a high school group would put together for a homecoming float. It just doesn't work as a physical being to get the crowd excited or active during a game.
