With the Horizon League non-conference schedule finished until the Bracketbuster (can we go six of eight?), why not jot down our current RPI situation. I'm taking the numbers from WarrenNolan.com which seems to update quickly. I won't copy out the whole list, but Valpo's #56 after beating CSU. Three Horizon League teams in the top 60, not bad! (Butler 26, CSU 29). The Horizon League has slipped down to 11th, now falling below CUSA and the CAA. The conference RPI doesn't change _much_ after conference play begins, but it feels like we're slipping a bit? The Horizon's still in 11th, as they have been for a while. But, it feels like we're sliding back towards the Valley, while e.g. CUSA is creeping up to the A10. Atlantic 10 0.5319 Conference USA 0.5314 Horizon League 0.5216 Missouri Valley 0.5185 As for inside the league, at the half-way* point the leaders are: Cleveland State 0.6080 32 Valparaiso 0.5763 56 Butler 0.5952 41 Wright State 0.5424 100 with Milwaukee at 130 and Green Bay at 131. *Butler's always special. of course. This time with their two games against Milwaukee before the half-way mark, and none against UIC.

Looks like we just slipped below the Valley. Now just 12th in the conference RPI. We need some bracketbuster wins, and some help from past opponents!

Yea...I noticed that. It is still very close at this point, but it'd be nice to be higher than these other conferences in RPI for potential seeding reasons in the tourney.

I don't know if it's good for seeding, but there is a certain benefit for bragging rights! Would be nice to move a couple of spots. It is very tight.

We move down one, and Butler up two. I know that Butler beat CSU, but they lost to YOUNGSTOWN.

I just think it's worth point out that the Horizon League is 5-19 vs. BCS opponets. Three of those 5 wins belong to Bulter, and Cleveland State and UIC have one win each.
It's always good to knock off other leagues, but it would be prefered if it could be a "name school" once in a while.

In case you missed it, Valpo was selected late Sunday evening to host Iona in the second-annual College Insider.com Tournament, giving the league four postseason participants for the first time. The draw is one CAA team (Old Dominion) in the Big Dance, the Big Ten (Northwestern) and the America East (Vermont) in the NIT and the MAAC (Iona) in the CIT. The league currently stands at 74-50 in all non-conference games and 62-50 against fellow Division 1 members. The overall victory total (74) equals the league's highwater mark set a year ago, including the postseason, and the D-1 winning percentage (.554) falls just shy of the all-time mark set in 1997-98, when the league went a combined 55-43 (.561) and placed three teams in the NCAA tournament, with UIC (No. 9 seed) and Detroit (No. 10 seed) sharing the regular-season title and Butler (No. 13 seed) qualifying automatically. 4-0 vs. Great West Loyola over Texas Pan American Green Bay over North Dakota Loyola over Texas Pan American Green Bay over Houston Baptist 3-0 vs. OVC Loyola over Eastern Kentucky Loyola over Eastern Illinois Loyola over SIU Edwardsville 3-0 vs. SWAC Wright State over Southern Loyola over Alabama State Butler over Mississippi Valley State 2-0 vs. Southland Valparaiso over Texas A&M Corpus Christi Cleveland State over Sam Houston State 1-0 vs. America East Detroit over Albany 1-0 vs. Big Sky Valparaiso over Northern Colorado 1-0 vs. Big West Milwaukee over UC Davis 5-1 vs. Summit IUPUI over Green Bay Wright State over Oakland Green Bay over North Dakota State Milwaukee over South Dakota State Valparaiso over IPFW Valparaiso over Oakland 4-1 vs. MAAC Cleveland State over Iona Milwaukee over Niagara Butler over Siena Detroit over Niagara St. Peter's over Loyola 3-1 vs. Northeast Cleveland State over Bryant Youngstown State over St. Francis (Pa.) In case you missed it, Valpo was selected late Sunday evening to host Iona in the second-annual College Insider.com Tournament If I'm not very mistaken, it's the 3rd annual. I'm pretty sure Oakland was in the first one, and they made the Big Dance last year as well as this year. Just a minor quibble by an anal retentive

Good catch on both counts, fellas.
Second time the league's had four postseason entrants and the third-annual CIT.
Good luck against the Gaels!

Thanks, and you send those Wildcats crying to mama in their own gym, okay? Early reports I see at the Iona message board are fretting about key injuries, by the way.
