Is the Phi Delta Theta house demolished, yet? Heard it was to be demoished on or around 10 July. Not yet. Supposedly another week or so. They were waiting on demolishing the MLK House near the Law School, which they did on Monday, and another house somewhere else before moving onto the Phi Delta Theta house. As of yesterday, most of the windows were removed.

Here's a closeup of the front door of the Phi Delta Theta house. As of this evening, the house has now been fenced off, and there's a construction digger beside the house.

The house is about halfway torn down as of today. Tomorrow should be the end of it.

"LOL at "Jenny 867-5309" on the wall." What year do you think that was scratched on the wall? 70's, 80's, 90's or within the last 10 years?

My guess in early to mid '80's, when someone removed the previous paneling and put up new wall covering.

Just as a reference, here's what Mound Street used to look like. Forgive my rudimentary computer skills.

Thanks for the updated photos.
I believe that house to the left of Phi Delta Theta was Lambda Chi Alpha, or chops, which came down in the early '90s. The other other house across from the Fellowship house was Pi Kappa Alpha. In the '80s they were a very large and strong house. It was surprising to return during a homecoming in the early '90s and seeing both Chops and Pikes gone, including the houses!!
The Fellowship House was the TKE house in the '70s and early '80s. I believe it became the Delta Sig house in about '86. Not sure when they left campus.
The University moved much quicker to remove the Chops and Pike houses, as the Phi Delta Theta house was empty for several years.
When I was driving around campus a few weeks ago, it looked like both the Theta Chi and Sig Tau (?) houses are in decay. Is this correct, or is it just summer emptiness? I remember when all of the houses would have a summer party, with nearly everyone returning on a given weekend during the summer. Loosely coordinated, if I remember. The University put a damper on it a few years later, if memory serves.
When I was at VU ('83-'88), I believe that Greek membership was about 50% of the overall student population. Does anyone know what the Greek membership rate is currently?

Wow. What a sad couple of days... There were a lot of memories attached to that house! My loft/bed was directly against the 867-5309 spray painted on the wall-----Suite 8!. You can see remnants of the light brown paint and white crown molding as it was when I lived there. We stopped by the house at Homecoming 2004 and it was NOT trashed (inside with the graffitti & such) as it appears to be in these pictures. The charter was revoked after a drug violation in January 2005 but re-colonization can begin this fall. I'm sure the University deemed it imperative to demo the house before such a recolonization could occur and perhaps, interfere for their plans for Mound Street.

Has 807 Mound, most recently known as The Fellowship House (2003- )been recalled as 807 Mound or given a new name? I know this house was intended as a fellowship of faith community for any member of campus who wanted a house with an intentional/communal living purpose, but I haven't been kept up on what has happened with this program since the first year.

Right now the official name is "807 Mound Street" since the fellowship of faith community lost support. But supposedly, the support for the Fellowship House depends on the class, and it is expected to return to a faith-based living community soon.

I received this picture via email, and I thought it would be cool to show. Thanks to the person that sent it to me! It is a picture of the Phi Delt house in Spring 1988.
