What will be the outcome for this week's Homecoming game? More straw grabbing, more line collapses, a continuing of poor pursuit lines from the secondary. Carlson has a plan, and has restaffed to a certain extent, but perhaps the cupboard wasn't cleaned out enough from previous campaigns.

Hard to predict really but I would hope we would see some improvement. I think if the offense could get off to a decent start and drive the football, the game would be more competitve and the team would have more confidence. The running game has been unimpressive, overall team speed is not very good, and secondary play suspect. The last two weeks, the game has gotten out of hand early due to sloppy tackling, and the inability of the offense to get first downs and execute a drive. We saw a few more drives last week and the team was in the red zone four times only to come up with one score. That was an improvement and hopefully we will see more success in the red zone this week.

Per the Des Moines Register...... Drake quarterback Mike Piatkowski is unlikely to play in Saturday’s game at Valparaiso after suffering a concussion in the Sept. 18 loss at Montana State. “It doesn’t look good,” Drake coach Chris Creighton said of Piatkowski’s availability. If Piatkowski can’t play, second-year freshman Cody Seegar will start. He completed 13-of-29 passes for 94 yards after Piatkowski was injured. Piatkowski was injured on a helmet-to-helmet blow by Montana State’s Jason D’Alba, who was given a roughing the passer penalty and has been suspended for one game. “It was a penalty, so it clearly was against the rules, but he wasn’t trying to injure me,” Piatkowski said.

... second-year freshman Cody Seegar will start. His name is Seeger. I think you might see 2-3 quarterbacks play for Drake--not including J-back Steve Platek, who occasionally takes the snap from a Wildcat formation.

Does Drake have any WR's that can play QB? That worked for St. Joe fairly well last week.

Is this really a question? It doesn't matter one bit who Drake lines up at quarterback, they're going to crush Valpo. Valpo89 is right, does Drake have an extra WR who's not doing anything? I know they'll lose, the only real question is how badly they get embarrassed. Is there anything they have shown to predict otherwise? My guess 45-3.

Well, I am hoping for a better outcome this week. I think the offense will score more and the defense will give up less. I think we will still lose, maybe 34-14. Drake and Dayton will still be tough games, hopefully by the Marist game we will be more competitive.

Way to go Valpo! Huge improvement over last weeks game. These coaches know what they're doing. They obviously went back to the drawing board, challenged the players to step it up. A lot of talented Freshmen got in the game today. We need to get behind this team. It will take time, but today was evidence that we have coaches who will not be content with the status quo.

I missed the first half, but got an opportunity to listen to most of the second half. Good solid effort. :clap

Well, that's a start. It's nice to actually be in a game. It's still a loss, but not losing by 40 is nice.
Can somebody explain 19 points with 158 yards of total offense? Also, was this really a defensively dominated game, or were both offenses bad?
