PantherU fun fact:
Tulsa (08 CBI) - 99 to 53 Oregon State (09 CBI) 155 to 185 VCU (10 CBI) 66 to 50 Old Dominion (09 CIT) 103 to 27 Missouri State (10 CIT) 90 to 40
In all five non-NCAA/NIT postseason tournaments since their inception the past few years, teams who won the postseason tournament have jumped in the RPI the following year. The lone difference is Oregon State, a "high-major" who doesn't fit with the rest.
That's an average of 31.6 spots higher in the RPI.
Just my estimation, but even though winning one of these tournaments isn't a great accomplishment, you get real tournament "survive and advance" experience for your younger players. If I'm Valpo, I feel a lot better about Jay Harris' sophomore season if he experiences the survive and advance of the CIT than without that experience.
