I really wish people would stop throwing articles from bleacher report around like they are news. ANYBODY can write an article for that site. I could go write an article about how Valparaiso will easily be the best team in the country this year and make it "news."

I'm sure you can find one you like better with a quick google search. The fact remains that the dominoes did not fall as the prognosticators said they would. The Big Ten didn't rob the Big East as predicted and it's doubtful they will, at least as it stands right now.

That's fine, but I still hate Bleacher Report.

I actually think it would be funny to wake up and see a Bleacher Report article stating that the Horizon League will likely send 5 teams to the dance.

Butler may not be ready for the Big Ten in all sports except Mens basketball but they have made improvements in all sports. So much that they could beat Valpo in all sports that the HL sponsors. I'd like to now see VU Athletics beat Butler Athletics in any sport. It might even redeem the football team for the year if they could beat Butler. Although I wouldn't predict it.

Somehow I doubt you understand what you are writing about. First, Butler's soccer team is ranked 12th in men's soccer. I think that is good enough to compete with The Big Ten. As for beating Butler is ANY sport--do you follow Valpo sports?? We beat them in women's soccer this year, regularly beat them in Volleyball, baseball and softball, to name a few. Now, if you are talking about men's sports, other than soccer and baseball we have struggled, but so have the rest of the conference.

Okay, I'll give you Mens soccer as well as mens basketball as far as competing in the Big Ten. I did use the word "could." What sports are you willing to bet $100 (with a Butler fan) that Valpo will beat Butler in for the remainder of this academic year? Any? Your hard earned money. Volleyball--Valpo 5-3 in conference, Butler 7-1 in conference, VU 16-4 overall, Butler 12-7 overall. Who is Butler playing non-conf. matches against in Volleyball? SMU, Stephen Austin, Baylor, Marian, Arizona, CS-Bakersfield, Louisville, UNC-Wilmington, Army and Xavier. Valpo? Virginia, LaSalle, Hartford, Niagara, S.C.-Upstate, E.Kentucky, Appalachian State, Indiana State, Presbyterian, Hofstra and Bradley Softball--Last season Valpo won 3-0, Butler won 3-0, other game was cancelled due to weather. Baseball--Last season against Butler 2-2 Valpo lost 8-7, lost 2-1, won 7-2 and won 7-3 in HL Tourney at US Steel Yard in Gary, IN. I think your argument is weak for Valpo beats Butler regularly in Volleyball, Softball & Baseball. ***Looking back at this post I guess it depends on what you meant by Valpo beating Butler "regularly."

Volleyball gets swept by Butler www.valpoathletics.com/news/default/173/10156/ I don't want to rub salt in a wound but Valpo is falling behind Butler in many sports. Things are changing day to day for Butler in athletics. It all stems from the NCAA basketball tourney run to the Final game and the competition between the different sports. I heard that the other Butler coaches use the success of Coach Stevens and the mens basketball team to motivate their teams into believing wins are possible at any level against any opponent. I saw the Univ of Dayton band at the Indianapolis Scecina Memorial High School football game last night. Dayton is gearing up for Butler in football today. The 2 schools were co-champs last year. This year Butler lost to San Diego 24-0 in California (a tough game for any PFL team) and Campbell 27-10 at home. Butler beat Davidson last week in North Carolina 24-8. I would say Butler is "competing" in football in the PFL.

wonder how they feel about their preseason ranking of 18 in the coaches poll after nearly capturing the title last year.

wonder how they feel about their preseason ranking of 18 in the coaches poll after nearly capturing the title last year. I think it fits considering they are down two starters from the runner-up team. They don't have a real scoring threat yet. Sure, Mack might be a preseason All-American, but that's based on what? Not much more than a few stats from the best season in Butler basketball in some time.

If you listened to the interview with Brad Stevens he is so cool in the limelight. He really doesn't care at all what pollsters think of his team. In there lies the reason his team can come through in situations where other teams can't.
