I voted "I hate them", but that's probably a little strong.
I was a bit shocked to see them, and had an initially negative impression. But, that may have been a knee-jerk conservatism as much as anything.
Like others, I did think "They look like practice jerseys!".
But, I'll give them another chance.

Was at my cousin's bar with some other Lutherans watching the game. Most of the crowd were for Purdue and some VU. The general consensus on the uniforms was that they did not look good on TV because there was not enough contrast between the yellow and gray, some thought they were just "strange".

If the gray's were suppose to only be for special occasions then why the Toledo game? After that performance they should burn them and try citrus green!!

I suppose this game would be under the "special occasions" banner because it was the return game from the Bracketbuster event last season. It wasn't a game we contracted to schedule, it was a game we had to schedule because of how the Bracketbuster committee set things up.

I'm starting to think we only have two sets of uni's, a grey and a yellow. I could be wrong, but from assumptions made on a Google Image search, Toledo has a Yellow and a Blue set. They probably use yellow as their home uni's which wouldn't conflict with any team that doesn't have yellow uni's. Valpo probably was forced to wear their home jersey due to a yellow on yellow mashup. I think that makes the most amount of sense.
Think about the old uniforms and the new ones. The old ones had some disgusting things going on with them. The numbers on front were strangely off-center, almost like a baseball uniform. They had a black dropshadow on the numbers on front and back, and to top it off, the "clipart-looking" slanted top serif'ed VALPO across the front. Then the shorts had diagonal slashes on the side, with a completely made-up unused "V" logo on the shorts.

Sometimes we have to remind ourselves that this is in an internet message board This is true, agibson, but if we can't wear our road yellows, why not the home whites, since Toledo didn't look like a special occasion game for the grays to be used. Like I said above, this could be considered special occasion because it was the Bracketbuster return game, or with the Toledo home yellows, we needed a uniform. Hence, why rlh said, "much ado about nothing", we're wanting to make a mountain out of a molehill.

You guys should really consider that the school colors of brown and gold don't lend themselves well to uniforms, and maybe a change of the school colors is in order.
I said that as nicely as I could, I didn't want to sound like an outsider telling you that your school colors suck. I just...I don't know, brown and gold don't allow much flexibility because brown doesn't match up with many colors, and the ones it does match up with (like gray) don't look good with gold.
Take us for example. With black and gold, we can bring in more than just white. In the past we've had a mix of good (grey) and bad (red), but the point is that there's an accent color that goes with both...brown and gold only work well with each other, third parties make it look weird.

A study was done years ago, when the 49"er red was being discussed, by a consulting group who reccommended that the colors not be changed because they were unique. They certainly are that....at any rate the men's basketball team refuses to wear brown, although they have worn gold at times. Unless this new IMC department decides a color change is needed, it won't be done....and truthfully, the brown looks great on football jersey's...not sure why it doesn't in basketball

I don't think Gold on Brown looks bad at all: I agree that Brown and Gold look nice together. I actually really like our school colors (I know I'm in the minority on that). They are unique and would make our jerseys stand out. The only problem with that photo is the player's decision to wear a black undershirt with it

Yeah but you did and you are. Let's see, we could go with black and gold, no, about a hundred schools have that. How about red and white or cream or tan, nope, about a thousand schols have that...Should I go on? Brown and Gold is who we are and always will be. Brown looks great in uniforms and I don't have a clue why the basketball team doesn't like it. Oh, and ever hear of the Cleveland Browns? They seem to have pretty cool uniforms and perhaps we should consider the use of a burnt orange of some variation of orange as an accent color. I happen to like the way citrus green works with the brown and gold. I just don't see what gray hs to do with anything but I really don't care. Just win, win , win and the uniforms will take care of themselves!!

Gray has a negative psychological effect :lacking in cheer, gloomy, old, venerable, dark, dull et.al. Hell the Confedates wore gray uniforms and look what happened to them. Our US Senator,Jim DeMint, would probably say:"gray is Valpo's Appomattox. I agree. 0-2 and counting. Go with the "GOLD."
