Gray has a negative psychological effect :lacking in cheer, gloomy, old, venerable, dark, dull et.al. Hell the Confedates wore gray uniforms and look what happened to them. Our US Senator,Jim DeMint, would probably say:"gray is Valpo's Appomattox. I agree. 0-2 and counting. Go with the "GOLD." Thankfully, DeMint is one who seems to have gotten the message that the American public is sick of the color red.

DeMint doesn't like "black" either. Book it! So, let's go with the GOLD.

The BB team won't wear brown? ? Is this another case of the inmates running the asylum?

Been that way for years and years.... Was this a decision made before Homer was hired the first time?

So Homer doesn't like brown uniforms, but yet he'll wear that stripped tie that looks ugly with the yellow shirt for many games? I don't get that at all.

You guys should really consider that the school colors of brown and gold don't lend themselves well to uniforms, and maybe a change of the school colors is in order. I said that as nicely as I could, I didn't want to sound like an outsider telling you that your school colors suck. I just...I don't know, brown and gold don't allow much flexibility because brown doesn't match up with many colors, and the ones it does match up with (like gray) don't look good with gold. Take us for example. With black and gold, we can bring in more than just white. In the past we've had a mix of good (grey) and bad (red), but the point is that there's an accent color that goes with both...brown and gold only work well with each other, third parties make it look weird. Black and yellow is so overdone. To be honest, adding grey and red to accent black and yellow was probably done to make the colors less painfully boring. The University will never switch the brown out. It's too classic and unique. In the past year, they went from hiding the brown to embracing it, and they added a new color for publications: citrus. So instead of going with a safe "black and yellow", they managed to combine brown, light green, and yellow to make one interesting, cohesive color scheme. They're able to make brown work in football, changing the gold to more of a cream color. The Rams did it and made their jerseys look great, but I don't think basketball is a place to change the yellow. The idea behind sporting the gold (or white with gold accents) is to coincide with the screaming fans wearing gold shirts. I do think a brown jersey may be unique, but it's hard to pull off in basketball. I've never had a problem with a gold unis and I think if you look at schools like Marquette, wearing a gold uniform at home looks great behind fans who are sporting gold shirts. Marquette is also able to use light blue in their jeresys, I don't see why Valpo can't include the citrus. And I know UWM has black as primary color, but Valpo wearing black is a terrible idea... I don't know if any of you read uniwatch, but they've done a couple of pieces of teams wearing black for no apparent reason (BFBS): www.uniwatchblog.com/2010/04/18/bfbs-pt-i/

I agree that brown would never work, black shouldn't be done for a "uniqueness" factor because it isn't very unique and not our school color, and gold would be a good color choice. I am very happy with the new whites, however. Good find with the black jersey photos

Would someone please explain why brown won't work?

Would someone please explain why brown won't work? It reminds the school student body of a team with the ineptness of Charlie "Brown."

Would someone please explain why brown won't work? Homer refuses to wear the color. That's part of it. It is not a very "marketable" color to potential recruits either.

Mixed results for the gray uni poll:
Only 15 0f 41 (36%) voted that they liked them.
26 either were ambivalent or hated them (63%).
Certainly not a resounding vote of confidence for the drab uniforms.
