In addition to a new logo, student section name and mascot, the powers to be in the athletic department have introduced "special" gray uniforms. What do you think of the unis? Besides voting, please feel free to post comments.

Since I'm the second to vote and I love them, it looks like you hate them Spartan. Care to tell us why?

Where is the "I Love Them" option?

Don't agree with the yellow NOB, think it should be white with yellow outlines. Wished the unis had some texture to them, but that might be too expensive. Overall, I liked them, and it's still a HUGE improvement over the disgusting old ones.

According to what I read, they are only meant to be used once a year.

Since I'm the second to vote and I love them, it looks like you hate them Spartan. Care to tell us why? 1. VU colors are Gold & Brown, not gray. 2. Baggier than even today's baggy pants are not attractive. 3. Difficult to read names on back of shirt.

I'm sure we'll see these uniforms for the "Premium" games, like the Purdues, UNCs, Dukes, and the high majors in regular season. I didn't like the fact that I couldn't see the names, but if you watch enough games, you know who the players are anyway. Now the women's team, if they have a gray uni, I'll never know, since I can't tell you who too many of the women's team members are.

Valpo should have put those prior re-branding efforts to better use. Instead of the grays, VU should have rolled out a "limited edition" solid lime green uniform with gold and brown trim. The gray uniforms looked like practice squad gear. Nice idea to be fanciful, but far too bland, IMO. But then again, when you are given a color like lime green to work with, what's the AD supposed to do?

The gray uni's are top-notch and it's upsetting to hear that they'll only be used in a limited capacity. this team has had terrible uni's the past decade and the grays are a very welcome change. I love the yellow on gray and the simple "Valpo" in small print on the front is classic.

I voted "just OK." I had trouble seeing the names and numbers as well. When they brought them out, it reminded me of Roger Harden's senior year at Valpo High when they unveiled "lime green" uniforms. Some old-time VHS people might remember those.

I voted "just OK" as well. I think crusaderjoe was kidding when he said we should have had lime green uniforms but I think he may be on to something. Lime green with brown and gold trim would realy jump out and the gray just seemed lifeless and again, why gray?? Lime green makes sense in the same way that Notre Dame has pulled out their green jerseys for football when their colors are blue and gold right? Now remember, lime green is an "accent color" and can be changd at any time. Because of the addition of this color I have noticed it more and more in print publications. Look at newstand and look at covers. You'll see dark browns used with lime green lettering. Kind of sharp. As it becomes less fashionable, that color can easily be changed to something that is hot for that moment. For now, lime green with brown and gold accents sounds, and would look, very sharp and eye catching!

I enjoyed the uniforms. I think the idea of the gray uniforms was a good idea. I would have enjoyed seeing some lime green accent somewhere, but I think the new unis are definitely better than the old ones. And, in my opinion, the names on the back shouldn't be an issue for most of the more serious fans.

When I used the fact that the names can' be read, it wasn't for me, as I know all of the players by sight. However, there are people who attend the games, who don't. Of course, the letters are so small that anyone in the mezzanine won't have a chance.
I am not against "limited" use unis, per se. I just don't understand why such a bland color would be chosen. How about silver, which is not so much of a practice uniform look?
