Huge week ahead for Cleveland St. They face Valpo and Butler. Then they travel to a Monday, Feb. 7 "trap" game on ROAD at Detroit after a big W or L vs Butler.
They very well might beat us and then fall behind us again by losing their next two. But even they would get the tie breaker and we have to travel to Wisconsin. We will see where all stand next Tuesday.

Thursday night's Valpo-CSU game should be a knock-down-drag-out affair. Maybe Butler will become the beneficiary of the "Valpo effect" on Saturday Thank God that another arrogant "Butlerism" can be put to bed for awhile. Just using that cutsie phrase sarcastically makes me want to throw up.

Also strange that Saturday I'll be yelling "Beat Green Bay" and Sunday I'll be yelling, "Go, Green Bay!" I believe the proper spelling is "GO PACK GO"

Even if we lose to them, and they would lose to Butler, how would they have the tie-breaker...we've beaten Butler once, they would not have, we would have split with them, I think we would have the tie-breakers if I'm not mistaken

Calling bigdwsu...can you answer this?

Calling bigdwsu...can you answer this? I found the tie-breaker rule: (e) If two (2) tied teams split in two (2) games during the regular season, compare each tied team's record against the team occupying the highest position in the standings and continue down through the standings until one team gains the advantage, thereby winning the higher position. So, as rlh said if CSU beat us and Butler beat CSU and we end up tied, IF Butler finished 3rd we would have the tie-breaker based on a 1-1 record against them vs. an 0-2 record for CSU.

Let's just win, then we don't have to worry about the tie-breaker.....sounds simple doesn't it?

SO... let me pose this... would we rather NCAA as a 14/15 ... or to the NIT with a winable matchup....Obviously the Big Dance is just that... but the NIT is still a big deal!

If we can manage to win the HL, we wouldn't be a 14 or a 15. We would almost certainly be an 11, 12, or 13. I'm sure somebody on here has a history of HL seeds in the tourney?

(and i think they got to the sweet 16 that year too, but don't remember for sure.) but those are the only ones that come to mind right now.

Butler was a 9 seed two years ago after losing the championship game to CSU.
