In town this weekend to visit with friends and take in the Butler football game at VU. It's been a while. Any ideas or suggestions? I hear there are new restaurants, etc...
Thanks, and go Valpo!

It is actually a big sports day at VU. Football plays Butler, the volleyball team has a match at 5 against Milwaukee, then the men's basketball team has their first exhibition game against Olivet Nazarene at 7:30. In terms of restaurants or entertainment, I haven't been back to VU since 2004, so I don't know what is there now.
Also, Ryan Wronkowicz told me that there will be no video for the Butler game at Brown Field because the athletic department doesn't have enough equipment to do hard wire internet video for football, then get all of the equipment into the ARC in time to be set up for a 5PM volleyball match, so there will only be video of volleyball and Men's basketball on Saturday. I suppose this news would be more upsetting if our football team was competing for the PFL title, but it makes sense considering the available resources, and the madness of scheduling events.
Don't be surprised if there is a major delay on Saturday evening because of the volleyball match being at 5, and it's against Milwaukee, where we can almost guarantee 4 or 5 games because we usually play Milwaukee really well. The Men's game is supposed to start at 7:30, but with teardown from volleyball to basketball, it will require some time to get that all setup.

It takes about 2 minutes to take down the volleyball net, and they can get the basketball goals up in about 5 minutes as well. As soon as the VB match ends, the bsaketball teams will have the floor in 5 minutes. Rules state that the basketball teams have to have 30 minutes on the court, so even a five-set volleyball match won't push the basketball game back that much.

Do we actually have a chance to beat Butler and recapture The Helmet??
We have two games against like opponents. Butler lost to San Diego 24-0 while we lost 30-10. Butler lost to Dayton 33-13 while we lost 48-14.
We are playing at home after an improved performance. Is there hope??

I think we'll play better, but still lose - 24 - 17 Butler. I'm hoping that we have a few key plays that could turn a close game into a win. We need an INT return, fumble return, punt return, anything to give us a chance.

We need some kind of a spark. A special kick/punt return, or a defensive INT return could be something that gets the offense going, and feel like they can actually score on a team. Something needs to happen, and quickly.

Other than that, no they aren't going to win. Let's all just be happy that they might be in the game and not lose by 6 touchdowns. You have to start somewhere, right?

I am predicting a 2 point victory by the Crusaders. It is Butler and our kids need a victory, playing at home will get us over the edge. The rivalry will have our kids ready. Go Valpo!

playing at home will get us over the edge. What was the score of the last home game? When is the last time Valpo won at Brown Field? This team hasn't won on its own field since the turf was installed. I'm not sure playing at home will have anything to do with the outcome of the game. It surely isn't an advantage.

First time for everything. Everything has to start somewhere. I'm still going with the 2 point win. What the heck 3 points - Go Valpo. Book It!

I still can't get over the name "Communiversity Day". My goodness. While the name sounds cheesy and definitely something we would come up with, believe it or not many other universities do the same thing. A quick Google search showed that Yale and Northwestern both have Communiversity Days as well.
