The student body has til November 19 to vote on the name for the new mascot.
Here are the four choices:
Champ
Cruzer
Thunder
Victory
Personally these choices are just hideous. Just another reason I hate the new IMC. But I guess a mediocre mascot deserves a mediocre name.

So we have a gender/race/country of origin/sexual orientation neutral Crusader and now they have to name IT? That sounds pretty difficult...which explains why they've floated the name "Thunder" out there.
We should just call it Pat.

Cruzer is catchy and sounds like Crusader, but Cruzer has nothing to do with being a Crusader. What does a Cruzer even do? All of the suggestions are just horrible.

To try to create a gender neutral human mascot is the silliest thing I've ever heard. Where are the business minds in this administration? There's a reason why hospitals aren't run by doctors. Similarly, universities should never be run by educators. |

Come on people. Aren't we overreacting? Ohio State has a nut as its mascot. I wasn't a biology major but isn't a nut neither male or female? And, given these facts, why would "Brutus" be a good name for a nut?
I like Cruser as in VuCRU. Get it?

There is a TON of negative commentary on the Facebook event wall about the name change, by students, alumns, and even a professor. The Crusader, whoever it is, has responded to most people's wall posts personally and seems to be getting the hint.

So many proud alums of VU, and we're paying some marketing company to come up with this crap!! The only thing this company should be marketing to how to pull their heads of their hind parts.
I honestly don't believe the crusader needs a name, as much as coming back to the cartoonish Crusader we had for years. This whole situation of changing what Valpo was to what some outsider feels it should be steps on the feet of those of us who enjoyed what Valpo has always been.

I'm surprised that they're renaming the student section. Valparaizone...sounds awful. What if students brought VUCRU signs to the game and chanted VU the entire time? Would the administration get the hint?
