what happened that led to the technicals? i couldn't find it anywhere in the game report, and it wasn't mentioned on here aside from that they happened. Some shoving on each players part...fortunately it didn't get any worse and both coaches took the players out to cool off. It was handled quickly and correctly by everyone. No punches were thrown that I saw, which would have really gotten things out of hand.

Even on the FSN broadcast (which was replayed on FCS Atlantic this morning), it happened off camera, so I can understand the question I did get the impression that both coaches moved very quickly to defuse it. The UDM player was Chase Simon.

Watching it one more time, and I wrong. I must have missed it. Little and Simon got their arms locked up and shoved each other a bit, but nothing like the UDM-UIC game. I'm also listening to Todd's call via the WAKE archives (Thank you WAKE!!), and I'm chuckling because at least 4 times now Todd has called our opponent Oakland Was he feeling nostalgic or something?

Awesome moment of the game: with a slim lead at 60-54, VU scores a "short-handed goal". How Chicago Blackhawks of them!

UDM actually plays club level hockey in the MCHC-Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference. Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference (MCHC) includes club teams from: •Michigan State University •Lawrence Tech University •Northwood University •Oakland University •University of Michigan - Flint •Kettering University •Lansing Community College •Jackson Community College •Muskegon Community College •Saginaw Valley State University •Delta College •Calvin College •Grand Valley State University •Davenport University •Hope College •Lake Superior State University •Adrian College Can you believe UDM is in a conference with Oakland? www.udmercy.edu/slo/intra_wellness/intramural/hockey/index.htm Does Valpo still have a club hockey team?

A hockey reference by a guy who probably announces for some minor league team or club team wouldn't be unusual at all. About the same as a soccer, football or baseball reference. :-)

I did entirely misread it and I do apologize.

The play was this: Jay Harris gets hurt, rolling around on the floor in pain as Detroit gets the rebound and moves up court, 5 on 4. Somehow, a Valpo player steals a pass, and Brandon Wood gets a breakaway layup, and got fouled on top of it (though he failed to hit the FT). Somehow the refs didn't stop play for the injured player. If I'm not mistaken, Harris didn't return, and I don't recall hearing anything mentioned about him in the post-game. It wasn't quite Patrick Kane-game 5 against Nashville-worthy, but it was still awesome.

I do remember the play and it happens rarely because most refs who can pull their head out of their a.... would stop play and tend to the injured player. Even though Valpo got the points I still feel the whistle should have been blown while Detroit had the ball at the basket Valpo was defending. Who knows what could have happened to Harris for the long run or his entire playing career.

I'm hoping that play is discussed with the refs of the Valpo @ Detroit game and the HL director of officials if they haven't discussed it already.

My surprise was when Valpo made the steal and they didn't stop it. I know we had a fast break, but watching Harris crawl toward the bench was not a pretty sight.
