Brandon Wood. Kevin Van Vijk. Ryan Broekhoff. Jay Harris. All hurt. Wow, seriously, who would've thought in the lead-up to the Milwaukee game we'd be feeling so low on Monday? Although Wood should be back next Saturday, Broekhoff's hip pointer is a painful, nagging type injury, Van Vijk's chronic back pain keeps him very limited, and Jay Harris may be done for the year. And, considering we got a nice look at what the team would be without those guys, it feels as if we're all but finished. Obviously, Wood could've made the difference against Green Bay, but going from 9 deep down to 7 or 6 may just be too much to overcome in this conference.

I certainly don't feel we're all but finished....not sure why you do...

Rlh: Hope you are right relative to the injuries. I just had a call from the Crusader Club asking me to make a contrbution to the club as I have done in the past. I told the young lady to tell ML that if Valpo beats Butler I will contribute $5,000.00 to the fund. If we lose, forget about it!. Can we do it? Hope so. BEAT BUTLER! jj.

I hope the ARC has some inversion tables. I have one and it really helps with back and hip pain.

I certainly don't feel we're all but finished....not sure why you do... I want to remain optimistic about our guys getting healthy, no doubt. However, *IF* Harris is done for the year and those three will be limited, it will be tough to get that double-bye. This game on Saturday, while just "another game", is huge in that we've never beaten Butler since we've joined the league, and, if we lose, they have the tiebreaker against us. Even a split with CSU is fine as long as we don't get swept by Butler. Again, I don't think we're "finished", I just think, if players aren't healthy and we go down to 7 or 6 deep, we're in for a long, long road.

I believe the speculation on the extent of the Harris injury first appeared on a tweet by Maurice Jones-Drew.

Where the heck did any word about Harris possibly being out for the year ever come from? Never saw anything to that effect anywhere other than random posts here. I started that fire...sorry. It came from a source within the team an hour or so after the game so it was before the xrays or anything could be taken. If they are now saying it's sprained, then that is a much better result than originally was suspected. Which is FANTASTIC!

with butler coming in saturday, i really hope laz is right about it increasing kevin's playing time. he could be a real threat to the lane presence by smith and/or howard with the way he bangs around.

If Brandon and Jay are both out Saturday, I think our chances of winning are very slim. They'll clog the middle with Howard and Smith and force us to hit outside shots like the first game. It took Jay hitting 3 3's to get us back in it then. And that's when we had Brandon and everyone else at full strength. Maybe we'll get lucky and Butler will stink up the place like it seems they are prone to do from time to time.

Not only are the injuries a problem for the game but also affect the quality of practice. This really came at a bad time but I'm not giving up on these guys at all. Defense goes along way and they have all their best defenders still healthy. The key to playing Butler is clearly containing Howard. Butlers trend with their loses is Howard in foul troubles and Cory and Kevin do a nice job of catching the ball and taking a couple dribbles to the basket, so that should have Howard reaching and pushing. We need to do the same to him, have him catch the ball where he needs to put it on the floor. Our defense is very good at getting hands in on post players dribbling. Valpo has never been more prepared to play Butler then now, despite the injuries. Kevin is going to need to be a big part of this game I think. Cory is going to have ride the pine some because foul trouble. I hope this guys back is well enough to allow him to play his game for some extended minutes. Its an absolute shame to see him fight through his back problems. He appears to be such a hard worker. What a force he would be at full strength. Hope the off season brings him some answers to his ongoing troubles. One more thing, lets have at least one well officiated ball game on this home stand. Of course were biased but this has been a ridiculouse stretch of officiating. Hope everyone enjoys the most anticipated game of the season once again. Go Valpo!

Just a clarification, Kevin's problem this past week has not been his back (at least not more than usual). He's having some stomach (?) problems and has been getting nauseus and more...hopefully he will get rid of the bug before Saturday
