The entire Chicago region (including NWI) is under a severe winter storm warning starting at 3 p.m. today and continuing until 3 p.m. tomorrow. Weather reports are calling for as much as 2 feet of snow, accompanied by high winds and severe drifting. If it hits us full force, reports are it could be one of the worst storms in the past hundred years. Cleveland is calling for up to 6" of snow and up to 1/2" of ice over the same period. I don't know what time the team is scheduled to leave for Cleveland, but if they don't pull out of the ARC parking lot by this afternoon, there very well may not be a game on Thursday. Region braces for major storm: www.nwitimes.com/news/local/lake/cedar-lake/article_72494910-80fe-554a-b872-091e5c16f9ce.html

Interesting! I've been following the weather a bit, but this hadn't occurred to me.
The game could be even more interesting if it's rescheduled, e.g. on the eve of the tournament.

Yes, if the team were smart they would get ahead of the storm & get to their hotel in Cleveland asap. The Cleveland area will be passable but the NW Indiana region may not be. Then the storm maybe over after they play at Youngstown on Saturday night and get home to Valpo late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. That would be an extremely smart move by VU to start out today.

Another couple of days for the boys to recuperate would not be a bad thing. The weather may be a blizzard, but the sun may be shining on the program.

As someone who watched the GB game unfold from 8 rows off the court, trust me when I say that game would not have been close had Brandon and Jay played and Ryan and Kevin not been playing hurt. I realize that injuries are part of the game, but the fact remains that GB caught lightning in a bottle. By rights, we should already be a game ahead of CSU, and Thursday's game would not be nearly as "season defining" as the GB loss has made it.

Needless to say, but the Cleveland State game is the biggest game of the year. Win and Valpo essentially has a two game lead given they would own the tiebreaker over CSU. I also think Cleveland State will be very confident and feel the loss at the ARC was a fluke.

While Thursday's game is very important, let's not put all our eggs in one basket. I said earlier we would lose twice in the second round and I haven't changed my mind. Who and where is the question. Either way a 14-4 record should either win the league or keep us in second place. At the moment i believe we hold all the tie-breakers over Cleveland State and Butler, so while this game is certainly important, it is not make or break time yet

Let us not forget that the last time we played CSU we were without Matt Kenney. They obviously have the homecourt advantage, but because they have not played Matt yet this season, I think that gives us the slight edge. Hopefully Rochester, IN doesn't lose power for several days! (I would like to watch the game)

For me it's sort of where we decide if we want to, and if we're able to, impose our will on the league. Is this team for real? Do they want to host the league tournament?
Then, they have to beat Cleveland State. It's the only way they keep their fate in their own hands.
It's not do or die. It'll be a very good season whether we win or lose. But it's a big game.

Still not snowing, or not much, in Valpo? Probably the team got off safely, then.
