OK. The fact is you lost to a very bad defensive team in GB....... they made you guys look even better than you played. But, Valpo is still one of the top 3 teams in the league, and I think you knew all along that you would have to win the Ho League tournament to get in the dance. Don't jump ship yet!

Do we have the tiebreaker over Milwaukee if they win out and we win out?

A big positive was that we shot 92% FT

I'm selfishly hoping for a 3-way tie for 1st between Butler, Valpo and CSU....... Butler would host. But, if Milwaukee is involved in the tie, Butler loses that tie breaker.

so, so, so disappointed. Wood played remarkable, Broekhoff shot well, Buggs played well. As a team, I felt we came back and hung in there when we needed to. However, I think we collectively played down to their level, with the turnovers, etc., and they played up to our level when it mattered most, with some of those circus shots going in.
I'm sure nobody feels worse about the game than Cory does, so bashing him on here for his 0-8, 5 turnover performance won't do any good.
Hopefully, we get some momentum in our final two games, something goes right for us in other games, and we win two games to end up in the semis anyways.

Do we have the tiebreaker over Milwaukee if they win out and we win out? I believe it would all depend on where butler finishes. If we win out along with you guys we would both be 13-5 in conference. If the standing looked like this then Milwaukee is #1. Milwaukee 13-5 (win out over CSU and YSU) Valparaiso 13-5 (Win out by sweeping Chicago teams) Butler 13-5 (Beat Loyola) Cleveland St. 13-5 (Lose to Milwaukee and beat GB) In this 4 way tie I believe Milwaukee would win based on records vs the other 3. Milwaukee (4-2) Valparaiso (3-3) Butler (3-3) Cleveland St (2-4) Of course this all depends on us beating Cleveland St on Thursday.

I just don't feel it will happen for us at Cleveland or Indy because we respond so poorly on the road. Example:Toledo game, Milwaukee game, Cleveland State game, Ohio game, Butler game, Green Bay game. Not a good road team at all.

Do we have the tiebreaker over Milwaukee if they win out and we win out? Everyone talked about "winning out" when we had 4 games left. Then we proceeded to lose the next 2. Now we have 2 games left and we're talking about winning out again? It honestly will not surprise me if we lose one or both of those. NO ONE wins the HL tournament from anything other than the 1 or 2 spot, and we just blew that tonight (and last week at Milw). Oh, and before anyone corrects me, I know Cleveland State won from the 3 spot. That was a miracle equivalent to turning water into wine - and that only happened once. We're just another also-ran at this point.

Yes, let's hope for a sweep of the Chicago games and a Milwaukee win at CSU. I believe that would give us the #2 seed if WSU ends up 5th place, as we beat them twice, and Butler split.

I read somewhere that Hill is questionable for the CSU game because of an ankle injury.

But, Valpo is still one of the top 3 teams in the league, and I think you knew all along that you would have to win the Ho League tournament to get in the dance. Don't jump ship yet! Amazing, isn't it Stax? The air is too thin on this mountain, we're starting to talk crazy. It's been so long since we've been up here, not reaching the peak is akin to plummeting to our death for some reason. Then again, it's just light-headedness. It'll pass. Win out, and it takes: Butler losing to Loyola, Milwaukee splitting or being swept, and CSU splitting or being swept, and we're still #1. Not all that likely, I agree. Win out, and CSU sweeps and Butler beats Loyola, and we've got the 2 seed. Or if CSU splits, I think we have the 2 seed. Now you're talking. I think Milwaukee has it in them. Put it this way: win out, and the only way we don't get a double-bye is if CSU sweeps AND Butler beats Loyola. Granted, that's everybody's prediction (mine too), but stranger things have happened, and I do give Milwaukee a serious chance to win at CSU. I've been sensing this feeling for awhile now, like we can't go wrong, we're going to win the HL, host the tournament, and win it, and keep on rolling. OK, the last part is where it gets insane (I'm afraid Cory has been exposed as a weak link on this team, who is going to continue to play). But even getting the 1 seed: puts tremendous pressure -- there's not guarantee you won't get shocked on Saturday and you're one and done. We might have finished first, but we didn't dominate. On any given day, anyone can beat us (well, maybe not UIC or Loyola, but everyone else). The challenges have mounted as we've climbed each rock toward this peak. The air gets thinner, the environment gets less forgiving, it's what separates the boys from the men, or so they say. I've been trying to remind myself that nothing is a given. I guess what I'm saying builds off what Stax said: we certainly didn't think it was going to be easy to win this league, did we? Pain was waiting for us at every turn. In Milwaukee and in Green Bay, it found us and exacted its price. But this team could have folded in the first half, if what some of you are saying is true, and they didn't. It sucks to lose like that. It hurts (though not half as much as it hurts the players, trust me). But this season is *not* over yet. Numerically, the 2 seed is still very much in play. When you factor in who will *probably* win each game, it gets dicey, I agree. But we should have won this game tonight, so ... I prefer to live in the ambiguity. What counts is what happens on the court, not what our prognostications tell us ahead of time. GO VALPO!
