I know there were some coaches from St. Francis on the sidelines last Saturday...could there have been a reason for them to be there? I thought it was odd that they were at the game. Possible candidate on that staff?

I know there were some coaches from St. Francis on the sidelines last Saturday... Do the coaches from St. Joe look like the coaches from St. Francis? :-)

One was definitely the DC. I don't know about the other guy. Not all of the bio's have pictures. I did see that the OL coach came from Morehead. They were both pretty big so I assume one was the OL coach...maybe just visiting friends. SFU does have a pretty good track record...maybe we could interest someone from there?

sidelinesam, (great screen name, by the way), did you read HC Kevin Donley's bio? WOW. 72.47.210.169/football/coaching-staff/kevin-donley"Kevin Donley, who has established himself as one of the most successful small college football coach's in the country, has taken two different programs to national prominence, won a national championship and national coach of the year honors, begins his 12th season as head football coach at the University of Saint Francis." "Succeeding with programs that had previously suffered through hard times is nothing new for the Springfield, Ohio native." What an amazing bio. You gotta love a guy who's interested in and highly successful at taking on those challenges.

St. Francis named their field after him in the Fall of 2006 - "Kevin Donley Field"
I've never had a field named after me, but if I did, I'd probably stick around. lol.

There is a poll on the PFL board. I voted for Coon.

You're talking about 2-8 Coon?! Seriously?
Is it just me, or is there something seriously wrong when our OPPONENTS get involved with our next HC vote! Yikes!

I understand your concern about this, valpomichigan, but when it comes to the level of D-1 that we're in with no scholarships allowed, how many coaching options do we really have? I mean we could either do as happened before, and go with a coach from within, or we have to give a coach that either lost his job, or has a career losing record, a chance to rebuild his coaching philosophy and confidence, or go with someone who has never been a head coach. Now what options do we have in terms of guys who have never been a head coach, and can do it at the non-scholarship level?

Wow, what a sad outlook you have, lol. More excuses?
This is a D1 coaching position. This is VALPO! This is an attractive job!
Why not a SUCCESSFUL HC from a Juco, NAIA, or D2 program who wants to make a step up to D1, a HC who has a history of WINNING GAMES, a HC who wants to coach at an EXCELLENT university, alongside other great coaches.
Why not?

ValpoMichigan, the 2-8 record is on the head coach, not Coon. I'm just doing what I can to ensure that Valpo loses close games to is more competitive with Drake , instead of getting blown out all the time. Just trying to help.

Actually 'Dog'....Valpo has as many PFL championships as Drake since 2000, and I'm not sure if you won the title the year you won a Divisional title.....so yes, the past 5 years have been tough, but we're far from having never competed in this league.....
