I changed my mind. I think Valpo should keep the game time as is to annoy Packer fans. You sir, are a terrible person Thank you ;D

I just don't think it will happen. Too much, too soon, not enough time, too many people have tickets for original start time. Although, crazier things have happened, but don't count on UWGB having any sway. In all my years of watching Valpo Basketball, I've never known the Athletics Department to make changes based on who will come, and who will not.

Release just came out, it's official - NOON START TIME VS. GB. That should help a little bit. I still would have preferred 11.

If a tree falls in the woods...
...Change the game time.
Bears vs. Packers for a Super Bowl birth...what could be better? Something just seems right with the world having those two teams play. Unfortunately it conflicts with a very good college basketball game. Also unfortunately, the NFL is the most popular sport in America therefore trumping the VU basketball game. Heck, even IU moved their game because of the Colts playoff game last year, so this isn't unheard of.
Granted a VU win over Green Bay would be very enjoyable, but I'll take a Bears vs. Steelers Super Bowl any day!

Let the sports marketing department go to work this morning. This is a game which should absolutely be packed. Throw open the gym to all kids...do something to put people in the seats. Go to the local grade school with tickets for kids with perfect attendance or good grades, etc. Tickets have been sold, the revenue is already in the cigar box. Bring people in. As much as the Friday/Sunday format makes sense...it is a killer competing against Friday night HS hoops and in this case NFL. lowposter Yes the gametime has been changed but lowposter is exactly on the right track. To ever become Northwest Indianas home team we consistently need to fill the building with kids that are playing high school and jr. high basketball. Many of them hardly know that VU even exists. Here we have at least the best team in a decade playing some great competition and the only way we can sell the place out is when Butler or Purdue fans buy 1000-1200 tickets. I would almost guarantee that the Green Bay, Detroit, WSU, Loyola and UIC games will all be played before 1200 empty seats. Call athletic directors, call coaches, charge them little or nothing, don't take no for an answer. We should continue to do this until seats start filling themselves, and this might take several years.

UIC (among many others) has tried that approach for years and years and the results continue to get worse and worse. It's because they have no confidence in their ability to SELL their product for a price. Doing this devalues a program. Getting people to pay full price and see the value you offer at that price is the way to go. I'm guessing you won't see many discounts on ticket prices from here on out.

I wonder how the "community" days (Kouts day, Chesterton day, etc.) have worked out for Valpo this year? I don't recall the details, but there were several of them on the calendar, presumably with discounted tickets or some other special offer.

Comment from 1 of Green Bay's 3 message board fans: Time to get up off the mat and get ready for 1st place Valpo. They're red hot, and blew out Milwaukee last night despite playing without Brandon Wood. Wood has a hamstring injury, has anyone heard if he's expected to play tomorrow? The Nix could use a break, and missing him would be a big one. GB is due for an upset, and I just don't see Valpo being worthy of 1st place.
