Hopefully, we'll have a good game on the boards and FT line.

If it mirrors the first half against WSU, it's going to be a long night because Milwaukee has that kind of range, 3PT%-wise.
If Buggs and Little are in the guards' jocks all night long and the double-team can be effective on Hill, the ARC is going to be rockin'.
I really have no idea which way it's going to go.

Checking a few of the predictions.
Pomeroy makes us 9 point, 86% favorites tonight, 74-63. (And we've risen considerably in his rankings; now #91; Whelliston's BBState predictions have us #49, and #10 "small conference", just behind CSU.)
Realtimerpi's prediction engine puts it at 78-64, with Valpo having a 76% chance of winning.
A Vegas line has us as 9.5 point favorites.
With Milwaukee's somewhat porous defense, perhaps we can put up some points. But, we need to continue the trademark (?!) defense. A score with us in the 80's and them in the 60's sounds pretty good, but seems optimistic.
Got to win these two to show we're legitimate! (Well, OK, it's not going to prove the case; but it's a necessary condition! Any mathematicians in the house? Necessary but not sufficient?)
And, I notice Warren Nolan has our RPI at 45 (rising on yesterday's games?), catching up to CSU?

Nice quote from Howard Little: "It's the Horizon League -- not Butler's league or anyone else's," Little said. "It's the Horizon League, and it's a tough league. We're in first place right now, so it looks good on us. But it's still anybody's league."

Comments from Howard Little in the PT article: Little also dismissed the idea that the Crusaders suddenly have a target on their backs now that they're out in front. That said, he also dismissed the idea that it's Butler's league until another team says otherwise. "It's the Horizon League -- not Butler's league or anyone else's," Little said. "It's the Horizon League, and it's a tough league. We're in first place right now, so it looks good on us. But it's still anybody's league." What he said: --No one school is bigger than the league. --Butler may have "owned" the league last year, but no one including Butler owns it this year. What he didn't say: --No butt kissing platitudes How refreshing.

Anyone know of Jay Harris's status for tonight? Haven't heard anything, and for those of you who saw the Detroit game, you know what it seemed like; a bad injury. I realize-- if there had been some catastrophe-- someone probably would've mentioned it already. So... anyone? Anyone?

Howard Little...I hope he is enjoying his senior year as much as we are enjoying it. He will be difficult to replace. He is a warrier.

Valpo has always kept injury status' (stati?, statuses?) close to the vest for obvious reasons. Unless a fellow student or prof has physically seen Harris and noticed a problem I think we will not know until Harris takes the court or not.

Prediction: Valpo 55 Milwaukee 54 This is how I see this game finishing. Milw leads 54-53 with 3 seconds left - and the ball. Following a time out, they take the ball out under our basket, try to throw a half court pass, Brandon intercepts it, drives all the way to the hoop, and lays it in as the clock expires. Sounds crazy I know, but stranger things have happened.

As has been stated before those Valpo players with "FT form problems" should still be working on improving their form so they have a chance at making their FT's. and why do you think they are not working on their form. I've told you about what I saw at practice last week with Buggs, I don't believe the other guys aren't being worked with also. No one is happy with our FT percentage, but it's not because they aren't working on it. I don't think it's about actually doing the practice FT's but believing that the practice will make a difference. Someone said that they don't believe players most of the time actually buy into the idea that they can improve their FT percentage by bettering their form. After seeing Erik Buggs, a 33% FT shooter make 2 FT in the Detroit game after working on his form (and those seemed like Valpo High FT's) other Valpo players will now believe. Maybe Erik's FT's will make the difference in the Milwaukee game....just maybe.

Let's hope the defense continues to show up like the past couple of games. Nothing positive can come from getting into a shootout with Milwaukee.
