Homer drew (no pun intended) a tech in the second half, but I'm not sure what for. I know the shooter had four free throw shots, and he made a couple, but I don't know why Homer drew the T?

I just got home from the game. Gotta love Chicago driving after 8 pm! We got the T after a completely bull**** foul call. Homer jumped up from the bench and yelled at the ref and got the T. I don't think it was anywhere near animated enough on his part to warrant a T, but the refs were all around awful tonight (not surprising). The officials actually looked like they wanted to be in Valpo less than the Milwaukee Panthers, which is really saying something!

Good win....any win is a good win, but particularly when 2 starters log a total of 3 minutes. Ok 4 of 10 isnt too good from free throw line, but at this point in time, it is about stacking wins. Wasnt there tonight, but plan on a double beat down on Green Bay Sunday. lowposter

Solid win when you are down 2 starters. Defense really doing the job. Big all around game from Kenney. He is the glue no matter what unit is on the floor. Cornette's analysis was very glowing about Valpo. Called Kenny's night a Pippen-esque night, lots of stats stuffed into the columns. He also called Jay Harris a smaller Juan Dixon. That may be a bit of hyperbole there. I think Jay is actually a young Brandon Wood. It's good to have Witt back because it is 5 more post fouls and allows he and Van Wijk to be very aggressive and free up Cory. This is a very deep team. It took Coach a couple years to build back to an 8-9 deep team, and as Cornette alluded to it becomes very difficult to prepare for a team like this. The dynamic of this game was very interesting the last 10 mins. It was like UWM said we'll start thinking about Butler. Valpo continued to play aggressively, but eased off a little to rest for GB.

Also, I thought I'd comment on the student section tonight: GARBAGE!
I seriously don't understand what the heck is going on! I was a little upset by what I perceived to be a lack of student attendance in previous games, as viewed on HLN, but I thought I'd withhold judgement until I actually got to see in person. I can honestly say we had more students in attendance at times during the '08-'09 season. Since when did our students turn into a bunch of front-runners? I know the house will be packed against Butler. C'mon this is a Valpo team that is in first place of the #11 conference in the country. There should be way more excitement about this team among the students.

There were some Frat rush events and battle of the bands on campus tonight...but that shouldn't have made a huge difference. I suggest that you get used to a half full student section minus Butler. I honestly think you're lucky that ANY students show up to these games...I don't think you guys understand the backseat nature that athletics have taken to most of the student body. Those of us who are attend will continue to do so and will do our best. We were not very loud or organized today...it's kinda hard to get really fired up when the game starts on a 28-9 run...

From Milwaukee board: K Raw: Valpo handing us points we don't alway accept. Still time left. Super King:Free throws down from 78% to 67%. This half is ugly for both teams. Super King:This is a carbon copy of the Wisconsin game. Get blown out in the first half, play them even in the second half. Hell, we outscored Cleveland State in the second half. K Raw: But in none of those games did we turn our game around. Our opponents just eased off the pedal.

One of the best defensive outings I have seen in my four years here at VU. Buggs is a tenacious defender, Van Wijk plays basketball like his like depends on the games outcome, and everyone else stepped up tonight in the absence of two scorers, especially Rogers out of the onset.
A great game, and I look forward to Siunday for VU to continue the dominance

I've said many times, the overall quality of officiating has improved greatly in the Horizon League over the old Mid-Con. We've had some real well officiated games in conference this year, especially Mike Sanzere's crew at Wright State, but last night's game was abysmal. There were so many missed calls I couldn't believe it. So I kept looking at the ESPN replay in front of me to get verification. There it was another missed call. The charge on Mike Rogers with 3 minutes remaining in the first half was one of the worst calls I've seen this season. How any Divisional 1 official could have viewed that play and called it a charge is mind-boggling.

Rogers goes way out of his way to avoid contact and the defender hip checks him going into the basket. CHARGE?!

pretty sure homer was correct in his argument pre-tech. looked like it should have been a charge to me. but i also liked the camera behind the basket. my first thought was 'woah-when did that happen?'

I guess what I really don't get is how it changed so quickly? It's not like we had tons of students 20 years ago and now we don't. There was large student attendance just 2 years ago. Hopefully if we beat Butler in front of the larger crowd we can get quite a few more of them to come back the rest of the year. A really good student section can be such a huge home court advantage, it really is a shame.

It really seemed that the ref T'd up Homer was particularly egregious in the balance of his calls. Are there stats available assigning the ref to the call? I'd really like to see how his calls went -- especially prior to the tech.
