From his chat today:
Personally, I've never been a big fan of Vitale's style of calling a game; I think it's full of cliches and is just generally annoying. However, I think it's pretty awesome that (it looks like) he's going to be calling our bracket buster game from the ARC. It indicates that ESPN obviously is looking at our game as a marquee one.

The good news is that if he is calling the game, we, who are at the game, don't have to listen to him.

Well, by process of elimination, I would say Vitale is coming.
Missouri State has 2 remaining games on ESPN networks....one is ours, and the other is on Feb. 26. He has Duke/VA Tech that night in Blacksburg, so he won't be at the MSU game...
Which means...he truly is coming to the ARC...does this mean our game is "awesome, baby"?

Who is doing play-by-play with him? Brent Musburger? Mike Patrick?

I'd guarantee it's either Patrick or Dan Schulman. One of the two always seems to work with Dickie V. Nice no matter who it is, but I'm a big Schulman fan and it'd be nice to see him roaming the ARC Saturday.

Pretty cool! Does anyone know if he has ever done a game at a HL venue before?

Dickie V? That's awesome baby. For younger members of the board....MO. State is actually an old foe of Valpo from the 80s when they were Southwest Missouri State and they hosted our "AMCU-8" conference tourneys down in Springfield, MO in their nice gym. I know UWGB, UIC and Cleveland St. were in the conference then. I think those are the only one from the current Horizon gang. Charlie Spoonhour used to coach them and they usually won it. Go visit their campus scenery and compare to Valpo and the 3 schools above. Slight recruiting advantage I think.

I also like Schulman. Too bad for him hat he has to endure Dookie V. This would be a fun game: keep track of the amount of times he does mention Duke! For a mid-major contest, I'd hope it'd be pretty low. For younger members of the board....MO. State is actually an old foe of Valpo from the 80s when they were Southwest Missouri State and they hosted our "AMCU-8" conference tourneys down in Springfield, MO in their nice gym. Lot of history before some members of this board, myself included, might have been born. I did some research, and the first meeting between Valpo and Southwest Missouri State, as they were known, came in the 1967 Division II National Quarterfinals, and the Crusaders lost 86-72. Also, in 17 career contests, MO. ST. is 14-3, but all match-ups took place more than 20 years ago, so it's just a fun fact at this point. No real bearing on this year's game, which should be enjoyable.
